It all started with a tiny 450 square foot sock boutique in 1988, where Ellen and Eric Gil began to uncover a whole new world of footwear. Like their hometown of Santa Cruz, they carried socks that were unique, fun and quirky. Today Sockshop & Shoe Company resides in a grand 5,000 sq. ft. frame in the historic People's Bank Building in downtown Santa Cruz, and is bursting with unique socks, shoes, hats, accessories and more. Ellen and Eric decided to expand, opening Legs in 2010 and ShoeShop Haight Street in 2015.
In 2009 they opening Sockshop Haight Street in the historic Haight-Ashbury district of San Francisco. Come in the iconic argyle store front to see the biggest sockshop on the planet, chalk full of socks, tights, leggings, underwear and accesories for the whole family.
Our little Sockshop family sure has grown in the Bay Area, and we’re thrilled to offer you all the best to put on your feet, legs, and a few of your other favorite places.
